The Tulsa Zoo, an Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited facility, celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2018. In addition to providing conservation of wildlife and natural sciences education, the Tulsa Zoo also provides family-friendly recreation inspiring a passion for wildlife in every guest.

In 2012, the Tulsa Zoo launched Building Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, a 20-year master plan for exhibits and the most aggressive capital campaign in the zoo’s history. The $160 million plan will renovate and add five key exhibit areas: African Plains, Lost Kingdom, African Forest, Sheepy Hollow Children’s Area, and Wild Islands. Wallace provided structural and civil engineering services for the two projects completed in the plan – Mary K. Chapman Rhino Reserve in the African Plains and the Helmerich Sea Lion Cove in Wild Islands.

Lost Kingdom is the most recent project completed for the master plan. Sprawled over five acres, the new attraction features Malayan tigers, snow leopards, Komodo dragons, red pandas and binturongs. Visitors are able to roam through lush gardens and settings inspired by ancient Asian cultures. Guests are able to dine with views directly into the tiger habitat in the George Kaiser Family Foundation Special Events and Dining Pavilion and view tigers from below as they walk over guest pathways on the tiger bridge.
